Wayne Klatt has been named shift supervisor at Basin Electric’s Dry Fork Station.
Basin Electric Power Cooperative - March 16, 2009
Wayne Klatt has been named shift supervisor at Basin Electric’s Dry Fork Station, which is under construction near Gillette, WY. Klatt started in the position on March 16 and will direct the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the Dry Fork Station boiler, air quality control system, coal handling, water treatment plant, and generating equipment upon unit startup. During construction and commissioning, he will be setting up the distributed control system and the training simulator.
A native of Los Alamos, NM, Klatt comes to the Dry Fork Station from Basin Electric’s Laramie River Station near Wheatland, WY, where he served for more than 29 years. He started at Laramie River in 1980 as a laborer and worked up to control room operator, where he served for 18 years. He was later promoted to assistant shift supervisor and then to shift supervisor.
Klatt is looking forward to the challenge of his new job. “At age 54 it’s a crazy thing to do, but I ride for the brand, and a new adventure learning the new technology and training and startup will be a great accomplishment in achieving Basin Electric’s mission,” he says.
Klatt and his wife of 30 years, Debby, have two children, Andrew and Lexie. He enjoys hunting, fishing, horses, motorcycles, hot rods, and building things in the shop.
