Save time: get Basin Electric news sent to your desktop automatically! Maybe you’ve seen it: the little “RSS” on Web sites - but haven’t known what it is or what it does. RSS stands for “Really Simple Syndication.” Basin Electric is now offering RSS on its public Web site to make it easier for the media and other audiences to get news delivered from the Web site automatically.

Step One

1. Download a news reader from the Internet: To view RSS content, you must first choose a RSS news "reader." We do not offer one on this site. Readers can be used as online services or downloaded to your desktop. Each type has different features but all can help you organize the headlines you are interested in. Viewers can scan headlines for relevancy while tracking more news sources than would be available by visiting each site individually.
2. About news/feed readers: Many news readers are available as a free download. Some, such as Google's reader, require you to sign-up for the online service. Other news feed readers include FeedDemon, Feedreader, My Yahoo, Newsgator, Nooked, Pheedo, Rocketinfo, and Rojo.
3. About browsers: Some browsers, such as IE 7, Firefox, Opera and Safari for instance, can read RSS feeds as part of the application. Some of these will even alert you if a feed is available on the web site you are visiting.
4. To subscibe to a feed in a newsreader, simply copy and paste the URL of this site's feed into the 'subscribe' area of the reader. Now Basin Electric's news feed will be viewable in your reader. The URL for this site's RSS is below in Step 2.
