They're saying good bye to their hair, in hopes of saying farewell to childhood cancer.

(Mary Klecker-Green/Basin Electric): "We are just thrilled to open our doors to not only our employees, but everybody else in the community and see so many generous people, not only generous with their pocket books, but generous with their hair."

It's an event that continues to grow, just like these brave volunteers' heads of hair will soon do.

(Elizabeth Hillestad/Shaved head): "My sister had cancer and I wanted to grow my hair with her."

(John Knox/KEM Electric GM, shaved head): "KEM Electric with Basin is part of the Amber's Dream and going over there really moved me.... Basically that night I decided I can do this, this will be fun."

(Lori Ell/Shaved head): "A friend of mine did this last year and it seemed like a really good idea and I dont really know any kids with cancer or anything like that, but it sounded like a good cause, so why not?"

Despite the reasons for meeting the razor, buzz is certainly being created over childhood cancer research.

(Mary Klecker-Green): "It has really exploded. St. Baldrick's is relatively young. They started in 2000 and since then there is events in all 50 states, 25 countries. They've raised over 75 million dollars for childhood cancer research and fellowships and they really do fit that nitch that is so needed."

Mary says more children are honored each year at this event. Today, ten are recognized.

(Mary Klecker-Green): "I think what sets this event apart from previous years is the tremendous out pouring of support from our community. We have so many representatives from other community organizations here at Basin Electric today. We've had MDU involved, the Bismarck Tribune, BSC, Century High School, NISC, The Bismarck Bobcats, U-Mary, the list goes on."

Just as the brave new walking billboards will go on, continuing to promote the cause-all while proving just how beautiful it is to be bald. With KX News, I'm Kate Schell.

Money collected from Basin Electric's fundraiser will be calculated at the end of the month. Mary Klecker-Green says the company hopes it will raise close to, if not more than, $100,000.
