Dispatch Services

For Basin Electric members, Security and Response Services (SRS) will manage your telephones on evenings, weekends and holidays, offering a transparent service. When one of your customers calls, we'll answer the telephone with the name of your cooperative.

Dispatch services that we can provide include:

  • Outage/electrical hazard reporting
  • Consumer messages, such as meter readings, etc.
  • Member services information (water heaters, satellite TV)
  • Messages for employees
  • FYI services for any changes consumers call to report, such as telephone numbers
  • Satellite weather information
  • Customized services tailored to your cooperative’s needs
  • A prioritized (800) telephone number for your linemen to use to contact us directly

Basically, anything that your customer needs outside of normal business hours, we can handle for you, or we'll contact a designated person in your organization who can.

Power outage dispatch service

In the event of an outage or electrical hazard, our team at SRS will use state-of-the-art technology to compile information, dispatch and communicate with your crew, and verify for you that your consumers have power again. When you return to the office, you will find a clear, concise report stating:

  • Time the outage was reported
  • The crew area contacted
  • Time linemen checked out
  • Time your linemen were contacted
  • Truck number(s) or unit number(s)
  • Time power was restored
  • Nature of outage/hazard
  • Time linemen returned to shop
  • Numbers, names and locations of callers for each outage
  • Verification call-backs to consumers, if it is requested by linemen, to ensure that each consumer that called has their power restored

Plus, we at SRS are committed to taking advantage of new technology to improve the services we offer you. For example, each SRS member now has its own confidential area on the Basin Electric Web site for accessing co-op-specific SRS information. In the event of a major outage, if you decide to take your telephones back and handle your own crews, your employees will be able to step right in and take over without having to wait for faxes, or possibly without even leaving their homes.
